| Organization:
NPP's management is a joint venture between NASA's
EOS,
and the IPO.
Since the project is a combined effort of multiple parties,
a brief synopsis of the creation of NPP can be viewed on
the NPP History
page. The various task teams, their members, and their responsibilities
can be viewed below.
Contact information for many NPP-related persons can be

Project Science Group:
The PSG consists of government and contractor staff located
at or near the Goddard Space Flight Center. Under the leadership
of the Project Scientists, they are responsible for defining
NASA’s science needs, generating project documents,
and analyzing contractor documents and algorithms.
Interim Science Panel:
The ISP was an advisory committee of scientists in universities
and government laboratories. They advised the PSG on science
priorities, science requirements, reviewed project and IPO
documents and developed an initial science strategy for NPP.
This group was disbanded prior to the issue of a NASA Reasearch
Announcement (NRA) for a science team.
Calibration Working Group:
This group developed the the
Government Calibration Validation Plan for NPP.
Science Team:
A science team was selected in Nov., 2003. The NPP Science
Team is tasked with evaluating the NPP algorithms and providing
guidance to NASA on the NPP data products, data processing,
and instrument calibration/validation.
